The 2nd edition of the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Senegal Championship invited 20 talented teams to compete in 4 age categories over the course of the 2022-2023 football season. Strive Football Group’s teams PSG Academy Saly and PSG Academy Dakar competed in all of them, offering important pathways to high-level competition to its youth players and coaches. It’s important to praise the significance of the competition, as it’s the only one providing official tournament conditions to the youth talents of Senegal.

Once again, the tournament welcomed important youth teams such as Generation Foot, Diambars FC, Dakar Sacré-Coeur, and Mbour Excellence Foot . Their participation and dedication to the tournament serve as a testament to the increasing influence of Paris Saint-Germain Academy Senegal within the country, solidifying its position as a prominent organizer and ambitious institution.

Each registered team battled throughout the season in a group stage format, and the best 2 teams qualified to play each other in front of a large audience at the Paris Saint-Germain Academy Senegal Campus in Saly. Supporters from across the country visited the state-of-the-art sports complex, watch thrilling matches, and take in the memories of both the pre-match honors and post-match trophy celebrations.

The last match to be played at the complex was the Under 20 final, pitting Paris Saint-Germain Academy Dakar against Mbour Sports Académie. After an entertaining battle between the teams ended in a 2-2 draw, Paris Saint-Germain Academy Dakar kept their cool in the penalty shoot-out to bring home Paris Saint-Germain Academy Senegal’s first trophy in the competition’s history.

It’s an honor to expose the youth talents in Senegal to a much broader audience, to attract local press to our matches, and to put on grand spectacles on the final day of the competition.
